DAAD Delegation Visits Ethiopia for SLGA Closing Ceremony as DAAD Celebrates its 100th Year
This month, a delegation from DAAD Headquarters in Bonn visited Ethiopia to participate in the closing ceremony of the Strengthening Land Governance in Africa (SLGA) program. The delegation included Ms. Sylvia Schmid, Head of Department ST32 Africa, and Ms. Youssra Aly, Senior Desk officer of the SLGA program. Their visit coincided with the celebration of 100 years of DAAD and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in higher education and sustainable development aligned with DAAD’s Agenda 2030.
During their visit, the delegation engaged with staff at DAAD Ethiopia office and representatives of the Association of Ethiopians Educated in Germany (AEEG) alumni association. The discussions focused on strengthening alumni networks, enhancing collaboration, and showcasing DAAD’s continued support in Ethiopia.
The delegates also met with alumnus of the SLGA program and representatives from Bahir Dar University. Dr. Seid Hussen Yimam, SLGA alumnus and Dean of the Institute of Land Administration, presented the profile of the institution and it’s ongoing programs to the delegation. Discussions focused on the impact of the SLGA program on academic and professional development at Bahir Dar University, as well as possibilities for future collaboration, research support and capacity development in integrated land administration and governance.
