Renewable Energy: A Clean Critical Development Engine for Ethiopia & the 29th Annual General Assembly of AEEG
The Association of Ethiopians Educated in Germany (AEEG) successfully hosted its 29th Annual General Assembly alongside a thematic workshop under the title “Renewable Energy: A Clean Critical Development Engine for Ethiopia”. The event took place from July 18–19, 2025, at the Jupiter International Hotel, Addis Ababa.
The event was opened with a welcoming address by Mr. Girma Teshome – team leader at DAAD information point in Addis Ababa, who represented the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) regional office for East Africa.
The Alumni event brought approximately 80 participants, including Deutschland-Alumni and DAAD-Alumni together, to discuss the strategic role of renewable energy in Ethiopia’s development. The program combined networking opportunities, knowledge-sharing sessions, and strategic discussions aimed at leveraging the expertise of Ethiopian professionals educated in Germany—an especially timely gathering as the DAAD celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
The workshop served as a valuable platform for networking and exchange, highlighted by the notable presence of Prof. Dr. Aberra Melesse, Ambassador Scientist of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
The event successfully fostered knowledge exchange, encouraged collaboration among alumni, and strengthened the visibility of Germany as a hub for academic and research excellence.
