2nd Summer School Workshop "Climate Change Adaptation" in Wondo Genet (12.-13.3.2014)



The workshop was part of the three years project "Scientific Cooperation Network on Climate Change Adaptation" within the DAAD programme "Welcome to Africa". Currently, the following seven institutions from five countries are part of the network:

They work jointly together in order to achieve the main objectives set by the network:

  • Investigate climate change effects, identify local climate change adaptation strategies, and reveal innovative technologies for an effective climate change adaptation
  • Share the gained knowledge within higher learning and research institutions of Sub-Saharan Africa and Germany and develop their capacity in climate change related teaching and research
  • Elaborate a common research project on climate change adaptation and mitigation

The 2nd Summer School Workshop took place at the Wondo Genet Campus of Hawassa University and brought together more than 30 researchers, institutional representatives and students from all network partners. The German delegation included a students excursion group (ten members) and was headed by Prof. Jürgen Pretzsch. The Workshop covered the following topics: Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, Buffer Zone Management as well as Value Chains.
