Graduation at the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development (22.2.2014)

On Saturday, February 22, 2014, the 
EiABC celebrated the graduation of 123 students of the Bachelor Programme in Architecture. It was the third graduation ceremony for this programme to be held on the EiABC campus. Master of Ceremony Bisrat Kifle, the current Deputy Scientific Director of the Institute, led through the programme. After a welcome speech by the new Managing Director Dr. Béatrice Delpouve, EiABC Scientific Director Joachim Dieter and Architect Fasil Giorghis addressed the graduates, before Guest of Honour Dr. Admasu Tsegaye, President of the Addis Ababa University, congratulated the graduating class and delivered a speech.

With this historic event, EiABC celebrated the largest amount of graduates in Architecture in the history of Ethiopia, and in addition, the Institute also celebrated 60 years of continued existence and the anniversary of the former Building College, which today is the EiABC. The EiABC is confident that while increasing the number of graduates from 37 last year to 123 graduates in 2014, it is actively contributing to fulfill the demands of the national economy, and meets the Ethiopian visions of development, written down in the Growth and Transformation Plan.

The EiABC is part of the Engineering Education Capacity Building Programme of the Ethiopian Ministry of Education. It is within this programme, that the DAAD recruited Dr. Delpouve and Mr. Dieter as well as guest professor Dr. Petra Gruber. In addition, the DAAD supports the EiABC with the deployments of Prof. Gerhard Albert and Prof. Dirk Donath who are funded through DAAD´s regular programmes.
